We are a community-based, volunteer-run organisation aiming to support people in Waltham Forest and Barking & Dagenham suffering from stress, anxiety and depression by providing low-cost counselling and affordable wellbeing workshops and classes.
Our counselling approach is mainly person-centred which means the sessions are led by you. Your counsellor will listen to you with compassion, empathy and unconditional acceptance, and will take your lead on what you want to talk about. We do not advise or direct as we believe people are their own best experts and can be supported to find their own solutions, which might not be the solution that is best for someone else.
The way we live our lives is directed by the thoughts in our head. Often our minds are noisy and the thoughts negative. Mindfulness is a tool that teaches self-awareness. By practicing mindfulness we can get in touch with our true emotions and our bodies to experience meaning in the present moment, rather than being dictated to by negative thought processes. Mindfulness allows us to change our perspective of the world and of ourselves, helping us to be happier, healthier, calmer individuals.
Green therapy is the name given to a wide range of treatment programmes which aim to improve your mental and physical wellbeing through doing outdoor activities in nature.
connecting with nature in this way can have lots of positive health benefits.
